About CBI
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is the premier investigating agency of India. Operating under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions(India), Originally set up to investigate bribery and governmental corruption, in 1965 it received expanded jurisdiction to investigate breaches of central laws enforceable by the Government of India, multi-state organised crime, multi-agency or international cases. The agency has been known to investigate several economic crimes, special crimes, cases of corruption and other cases. CBI is exempted from the provisions of the Right to Information Act. CBI is India's officially designated single point of contact for liaison with the Interpol. The CBI headquarter is located in CGO Complex, near Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.
Three Ways To Join CBI
- Group A Officer - If a person is aspiring to become a Group A Officer in CBI, then one has to clear the Civil Services Examination conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) and become an IPS Officer, then only he/she can get a Group A Officer Post in CBI.
- Sub - Inspector (SI) - If one has a dream to become a Sub-Inspector in CBI, then one must go through SSC CGL (Combined Graduate Level) examination. SSC CGL has four stages (Tier - I, II, III, IV), after passing all of the 4 stages one can become a SI in CBI.
- Deputation Basis - If you're in police department, then also you can become a CBI Officer. CBI recruits various retired police officers of Inspector rank for posts like Consultants in CBI.
Eligibility For SSC CGL
- Educational qualification- For appearing in SSC CGL examination, one must have a Bachelor's Degree from a recognised University and final year students whose result is pending can also appear in examination.
- Age limit- General- 20-30 years (Relaxation- 3 years for OBC & 5 years for SC/ ST)

- DEST - In this test, candidates have to type 2000 words in 15 minutes on a computer.
- CPT - In this test, candidate's proficiency is checked in word Processing, Spreadsheets & Generation of Slides.

- The pay scale for Sub Inspector in CBI is Rs. 93,00 - 34,800 + Rs. 42,00 Grade Pay.
